Glassbar Island location

The island is located just south of Eugene, Oregon. It is an undeveloped propery owned by the Oregon State Parks Department at the confluence of the Middle and Coast forks of the Willamette river. (see map below)

You can find the Glassbar Island property just outside the city limits of the Eugene/Springfield, Oregon area. It is quite conveniently located just off Interstate 5 just a few miles south the city. Whether coming from the north or the south take the 30th St/ Lane Community College exit (I-5 exit 189) (see taking the bus information below).

Driving directions: If you approach from the south, take I-5 exit 189 and simply go forward at the stop sign to the first street on the other side of the Shell Station. Turn right and go about ¼ miles till you see the old parking lot on the left.

If you approach from the north, take I-5 exit 189. Turn right at the first signal and at the second signal go left over the freeway. At the stop sign turn left, take the first right after the Shell station and go about ¼ miles till you see the old parking lot on the left.

Please note - the parking lot next to the old Bring recycling is closed so you have to park along the road. It has an ugly yellow gate across it now. You can park anywhere along the road. (DO NOT BLOCK THE GATE - it's a $400 fine if you do.) For safety concerns, please leave 3 feet between your vehicle and the white line along the side of the road.

Here are 2 bus schedules for getting to Glassbar Island. There is no bus service on Saturday or Sunday.

1. From Eugene take the #92 Lowell/LCC and get off at Seavy Loop and Franklin. The bus will pass the Gassbar parking area so you have to walk about 500 feet to get back the where every parks to visit Glassbar Island. (link to #92 web page)

2. From Springfield take the #85 LCC/Springfiel and get off at LCC. It is a more frequent bus but a much longer walk. From LCC, walk down 30th, cross over the freeway, turn left, walk to the Shell gas station, turn right and the parking area for Glassbar Island is about 200 feet up Franklin. (link to #85 web page)
