January and February have been busy winter months for the Glassbar Island Volunteers and their friends. The map above shows where work to clear blackberry vines (red outlined areas) and ivy from the base of trees (green outlined areas) has been accomplished so far.
- The slide show below contains 5 images of the work the Glassbar Island Volunteers and its partners, Friends of Buford Park & Mt. Pisgah and Oregon State Parks has done to remove blackberries and English ivy, both exotic weeds that choke out native plants and trees.
- In February, turtles were seen using the tree debris placed in the pond - see image #3 in the slide show.
- Blackberry vine removal is taking place in the orange outlined areas on the state owned property.
